Disease Transmission Identity uses genomic data to identify transmission chains of infectious diseases. Not only can bioinformatic approaches be used to identify transmission chains, but also alterations of the genome over that transmission chain. Likewise, disease transmission identity determines directionality of transmission events and the rates of transmission of infectious diseases among populations or individuals.
